Don't let the GST input go to waste especially if you can avail an offset. TheDT 770 are very good, closed-back, neutral listening headphones. They deliver a well balanced audio reproduction with a near perfect mid-range and a great bass that doesn't drown instruments and vocals. They don't have the spacious Soundstage of the DT 990 PRO or the DT 880, but they have a better bass thanks to the closed design.
Solution #2. i take it that you are referring to the beyerdynamic dt990 pro 250ohm which is available for about $200? and not the more expensive premium line which is available in a 32oh version not requiring an amplifier? the dt990 250ohm are notoriously hard to drive so you will want a decently powerful amplifier.
